Help & contact
Here you will find answers to the most common questions. If something is missing, write to us.
Where is my data stored?
Everything you enter in Rootinez — profile, foods, nutrients, intakes, recipes and blood values — stays on your device or in your browser. We do not receive this data. Only if you voluntarily create an account and consent is a copy also kept in your account.
Do I need an account?
No. An account is optional. It helps you take your data to another device, keep it permanently in the web version and use AI features.
How do I take my data to a new device?
Without an account: in Profile → Settings choose "Save backup as file", bring the file to the new device and choose "Load backup from file" when the app starts there. With an account: sign in on the new device — your data is loaded from the copy in your account.
What happens if I delete the app or clear my browser data?
Then the data on that device is gone. Save a backup file regularly or use an account. We cannot restore lost device data because we never received it.
How do I delete my data?
In Profile → Settings: "Delete all data on this device" removes everything from the device. With an account, "Delete copy in my account" deletes the copy and "Delete account" the whole account. The data on your device is kept.
What do the AI features do, and what is transmitted?
The AI recognises meals in photos and reads ingredient lists. For this, the photo or text — without your name or email address — is sent via our server to OpenAI. AI features are only available with an account and after your express consent, which you can withdraw in the settings.
Does Rootinez replace medical advice?
No. Rootinez is for information purposes and is not a medical device. Discuss dietary supplements, changes to your diet and blood values with your doctor — especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if you have an illness and if you take medication.
Where do the nutritional and reference values come from?
Nutritional values come from public food databases (including the German Federal Food Code and Open Food Facts) and manufacturer information, reference values from recognised recommendations such as D-A-CH and EFSA. They are average and guideline values.
How much does Rootinez cost?
The basic functions are free. If paid additional features are added, you will see the price and scope before purchase.
